September’s Featured Question:

Q: I getting married next spring, on the beaches of North Carolina. Do you have any creative ideas for favors? - - Michelle. Houston, Texas.

A: Congratulations. Beach weddings can be so breathtaking. When you combine the natural beauty of the setting with the romance of the celebration, wonderful things are bound to happen. There are so many great possibilities for beach-themed favors. Create a simple candle from candle wax and a seashell. Its a lovely favor and reception décor all in one. Or consider offering Godiva chocolate's starfish-shaped chocolate as unique, but less time-intensive favor. Q: I love my reception site, but I really can’t stand the site manager. What should I do? - - Alyssa. Tuscon, Arizona.

A: Wow. That’s a tough one to get around, because an effective working relationship with your vendors is really the best insurance for getting the wedding of your dreams. My first recommendation would be, select another site. If you really love the site, and have to have it, consider hiring a coordinator that has worked well with that site manager in the past. If your liaison works well with the site manager, she'll be able to manage all of the details (and personalities) involved.
