Create Your Color Palette

Consider your Surroundings
Though your color palette is probably one of the things that you have been dreaming about for quite some time, you may want to make the decision after you decide on your ceremony and reception site. That’s because many sites have already made major decorative color choices that you won’t have the ability to impact. If you’re getting married in a garden, it's nice to know that there will be lots of purple irises planted when you’re married – you can make choices that will compliment the backdrop. And if that picturesque church has deep red carpet, you may want to take that into consideration, because it will probably find its way into your pictures.

Once you decide on a site, take some pictures of it and keep them in a binder. Then try different color swatches next to the pictures. You’ll be happier with the overall look of the day, and you won’t be surprised when you get your pictures back.
