Tie It All Together

A Designers Notebook
So you've never designed a wedding before? How will you go about the process. Here at Corey Williams, our wedding designers develop customized design boards and schemes that detail the event goals of each wedding, and pictures and samples of the unique elements that will be used to create the wedding. We suggest that you do the same, by building your "Designer's Notebook."

Tear out pictures of place settings, favors, venues and flowers that you love from wedding magazines, and keep them in your notebook. Visit the fabric store and collect swatches of material that appeal to you. Pick up a handful of paint chips in colors you are considering. Then mix and match all of these on the kitchen table? Which elements work well together? Which just don't fit in. From there, you'll want to begin considering the layout of your event and the flow of the space. Get maps of the facility from your site contact and begin specifing locations for each activity.

Keep all of these details in your notebook, and keep it with you every day. That way, when you have an idea, you can be sure to capture it. And when you unexpectedly find the perfect dress or handbag, you can check to ensure that its adding elegance to your overall wedding design.
