Your Vendors as Artists

Expect variation, and trust your artists

Your vendors are artists. And as much as you are hiring them to execute your specific vision, you are also hiring their expertise and creative eye. Trust them. If there is an item that you absolutely must have, by all means articulate the need for Casablanca Roses. But if what you’re really looking for is a dense bouquet dominated by orange flowers, with limited greenery and pale accents - you should say that, and give your florists the creativity to make decisions that accomplish your overall goal.

Communicate about other uses of color in decorative elements in your space, it will help them make better artistic choices. Faced with limited supply or selection, they may have to make substitutions. Give them all the information they need to do the job well. Detail the decorative elements in your event, so that they can be successful.
